Sweet News – Congratulations and Welcome to Dawn and Scott

Congratulations to Dawn and Scott on their 2011 wedding!   Dawn chose cupcakes arranged on a stand with a small cutting cake on the top.  We’re working long distance since she travels a lot for work.  After reviewing our very extensive website, (have you read everything on there?) she decided she wanted Louisville Wedding Cake to hold her wedding date!  And we are!!  We’ll work on design later.

Sweet News – Congratulations to Amanda and Ray

Amanda and Ray chose the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center for their ceremony and reception.  Event Room 3 (the new, big room) is just fabulous.  Have you seen those ginormous iron chandeliers?  Amanda and Ray chose cupcakes and someone in the family made a cupcake stand for them.  It was painted blue in one of the shades they were using.  Since the cupcakes had color coded fondant flower cutouts on top, along with an edible pearl, everything coordinated just wonderfully!

Ray had a Groom’s cake made to look like a U of L basketball court (go Cards!).

Guests could choose from Chocolate Cupcakes with Bavarian Creme Filling with a navy blue flower and edible pearl, Vanilla Cupcakes with Bavarian creme Filling with a light blue flower and edible pearl, or Snickerdoodle Cupcakes with Bavarian Creme Filling and an edible pearl.  Or they could choose a slice of Ray’s groom’s cake – Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Buttercreme Filling.

Of course we do cupcakes for weddings.  No, 400 or so won’t be too many.

How many cupcakes will you need?  A good “rule of thumb” is to take the number of rsvp “yesses” and multiply by 125%.  Even people who say they don’t eat cake, do eat cupcakes.  Yes, really.

I’m amazed when people call to ask if we bake cupcakes.  Of course we bake cupcakes.  We routinely make big cakes;  cupcakes are just little cakes.  We make cake!!  Size is relative, after all.  We even launched a website specifically for our cupcakes so they wouldn’t feel left out.

All of our cupcakes have creme filling.  How does it get in there?  No, it’s not baked in.  The filling is much too delicate for that.  The answer is “magic.”  That’s all I’m sayin’.  But I do get a kick out of watching people eat our cupcakes.  The first little nibble is cake and buttercreme.  Then they take a bold bite and get into the creme filling.  “Oh!  There’s good stuff inside!”  Yep, magic.
