Sweet News – Happy Anniversary to Rebecca and Greg

October 21, 2010

Rebecca and Greg chose to take a gift certificate rather than save the top tier of their cake for a year.  Smart!  They enjoyed a lovely reception last year at the Frazier International History Museum.

This year for their first anniversary, they chose a Strawberry Cake with Vanilla Buttercreme.

Thanks for choosing Louisville Wedding Cake to make your one-of–a-kind wedding cake and Groom’s cake last year and happy First Anniversary!

PS – we make cakes for baby showers, birthdays and parties too.  Just sayin’.

Sweet News – Congratulations to Amanda and Ray

October 11, 2010

Amanda and Ray chose the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center for their ceremony and reception.  Event Room 3 (the new, big room) is just fabulous.  Have you seen those ginormous iron chandeliers?  Amanda and Ray chose cupcakes and someone in the family made a cupcake stand for them.  It was painted blue in one of the shades they were using.  Since the cupcakes had color coded fondant flower cutouts on top, along with an edible pearl, everything coordinated just wonderfully!

Ray had a Groom’s cake made to look like a U of L basketball court (go Cards!).

Guests could choose from Chocolate Cupcakes with Bavarian Creme Filling with a navy blue flower and edible pearl, Vanilla Cupcakes with Bavarian creme Filling with a light blue flower and edible pearl, or Snickerdoodle Cupcakes with Bavarian Creme Filling and an edible pearl.  Or they could choose a slice of Ray’s groom’s cake – Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Buttercreme Filling.

Thanks for choosing Louisville Wedding Cake to make your one-of-a-kind Wedding Cupcakes and Groom’s Cake!

Sweet News – Congratulations to April and Matt

September 10, 2010

April and Matt had their wedding and reception at the Hilton Garden Inn.  Striking decor – centerpieces of hurricane candle holders circled with red roses, tulle draped on the ceiling over the dance floor and a lighted glass block pedestal for the cake gave the ballroom sparkle and pizazz.

Guests could choose from three flavors of cake:  Italian Creme, Lemon Pound with Raspberry Creme filling, and Chocolate Raspberry cake with Truffle filling.

For the groom’s cake, April and Matt chose the logo from North Carolina State University where they both work.  And since the rehearsal was a combo rehearsal/tailgating party before the “big game” on September 4, they asked that I put the UK logo on the cake as well.  As a U of L graduate and CARDS fan, all I can say is “ouch.”

The groom’s cake was Tuxedo.  Tuxedo cake has two layers of chocolate cake and two layers of white cake, alternating.  Yummy and something for everyone.

Louisville Wedding Cake worked with April and Matt long-distance.  Actually we never even met!  We sent sketches via email along with lots of questions and answers and got everything done, including some changes a few days before the wedding.  Every year Louisville Wedding Cake will work with a half dozen or so brides who are getting married in their hometown  but live and work somewhere else.  It’s not a problem!  The interwebs make it easy to share pictures and info.  And if you’ve got a relative, like April’s mom here in Louisville, you can have a “surrogate cake tasting!”

PS, Yes, the groom got a copyright release from NCSU and UK for the groom’s cake.  Just in case you’re a regular reader of this blog.

Sweet News – Congratulations to Kelly and Jonathan

August 31, 2010

Kelly and Jonathan had a lovely wedding reception at the beautiful Audubon Country Club last weekend. The reception room had a wall of windows overlooking the golf course.  It was idyllic!

If you can find someone to sponsor you for the day, Audubon Country Club is an absolutely perfect place for your wedding and reception.    Kolleen will be on top of every detail of your event and the kitchen puts out some mighty fine food!  Just look at the food pictures on Audubon’s website.  Be warned though, you might want to lick the screen.

Kelly and Jonathan chose a design for their wedding cake taken from the lace on her gown.  Using motifs from the wedding gown to inspire the wedding cake design is a specialty of Louisville Wedding Cake.  What could be more beautiful than the happy, glowing bride and groom, standing next to the cake that harmonizes with her gown.  It always looks fab in pictures!

Jonathan is a U of L fan (Go CARDS!) so chose the fighting Cardinal emblem for his groom’s cake.

The guests had many flavors to choose from:  Chocolate cake with Bavarian Creme filling, Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Creme filling,  and Almond White Cake with Raspberry creme filling.  The Groom’s cake was Chocolate Cake with Bavarian Creme filling.

I love all our fillings, but the Bavarian Creme is da bomb!
